More Welsh Highland Railway
Another view from The welsh Highland Railway steam train. What an experience that was. I want to go the whole length of track next time! I think it is almost to Porthmadoc now! This welsh valley is so beautiful!
We found that we didn't have time to walk up to the summit of Snowdon before the return journey so went into the village of Rhyd ddu and went to the pub there.They have a campsite about a mile away so we walked to have a look at it. It is situated on the edge of the lake that the train passes and is in an idyllic position. The facilities looked superb; fire pits for each pitch and big picnic tables, a boardwalk out to the pitches, superb views, large trolleys to facilitate getting your stuff to your tent. No EHU though which could be a bit of a bummer for some. I have read that the site becomes really boggy, hence the boardwalks. It sure looked pretty good when we were there and I'd love to try this site in good weather. Only problem is... so many campsites, so little time! Wish I'd discovered camping about 20 years ago! I would live in my Bear Lake tent if i could.
My camping trips this year - March/april - Rhyd Y Galen, Snowdonia; May- Waunfawr; June - Wyre Farm Park; July - Wyre Farm park; August - Wyre Farm park, Baysbrown Farm; September - Pooley Bridge, Hillcroft Park. Still going to try and get at least one more in before the winter but will garden camp all year. Hoping for Pooley Bridge again next week in midterm.

On the Welsh Highland Railway between Waunfawr and Rhyd Ddu. We stayed at the campsite at Waunfawr. The train stops at the site and there is a microbrewery pub there too. This is a fabulous campsite. There is also a bus into Caernarfon from the entrance.
We stayed in May in very good weather. Waunfawr is a great location;close to Snowdon and also to Caernarfon. The train travels from Caernarfon to Beddgelert and I think even further since we were there. It is planned to join up with the narrow gauge at Porthmadoc.
I would really recommend this campsite if you want peace and quiet, a pint in the evening and good wholesome food. Steam enthusiasts as well as others would not fail to be impressed by the visits of the trains to this site. It wasn't cheap but then none of the Snowdonia site are.
It was hard to find a dog friendly pub in Caernarfon though; the only one was The Angelsey Arms down at the side of the castle. From the train we saw a great looking site at the edge of the Lake

Nearly Midterm!!
Think I can cope with 5 more days before midterm! and then... camping in lakes for 4 days! Woop, woop!
This is Bear Lake 6 but think I will take Outwell Hartford.

Outwell Hartford tent
I've now got an Outwell Hartford L, the old style with the poles inside! Outwell wanted £165 for 2 new poles but I got them repaired and a new tent for £150 from JR leisure at Orrell! I bought an extension from Gaynor's of Ambleside and it's brill!
So now I've got...
An Outwell Bear Lake 6
An Outwell Hartford L
A vango Delta 300 and
A Wynnster Faro 4!
